
Laura died peacefully at home with husband Denny and friends at her side, on Feb. 10, 2010.
Laura was born May 5, 1932 in Harrington, Kan. and grew up in Camas, Wash. Laura got her degree as a Registered Nurse from University of Oregon Medical School, School of Nursing in Portland. Laura worked as a RN for many years. Locally she was a director/organizer of procedures for a new hospital. She also was a dental assistant in Thousand Oaks.
Laura always loved scientific research on natural healing and created many diets that included herbal and natural supplements. Laura was a great believer in natural healing and Laura helped many people she knew with her knowledge and compassion. Laura had the intense desire to make contributions reflecting the health and well being of all animals through genetics and diets. These efforts surfaced in her with the breeding of the first imported Australian Silky Terriers. All aspects of her applied talents benefited with breeding and raising of German Shepherds for years also. Laura was instrumental in organizing the Ragdoll Fanciers' Club International. Laura authored and published "The Lovable Ragdoll" book in 1975, which is still used today. She was a breeder and seller of Ragdoll Cats since 1969. Laura owned and operated the Blossom-Time Cattery in Newbury Park for many years. Where she raised the Ragdoll cats and boarded cats for others.
For recreation she worked her way up to a Black Belt in karate. Laura was loved and revered by the people that knew her and will be sorely missed by her family and many friends and neighbors. |
